Case Study – Salesforce to Sage Intacct

Challenge

Get Opportunity data into Sage Intacct to create Journal Entries based on a complex set of rules. For example, if 20 cash donations are made for one payment type in the same day, these all need to be put on one line so only one journal entry is being created, however if 20 credit donations are made, these need to have their journal entries, so 20 are created. The Reporting Type is used to determine which opportunities are being combined into single journal entries and which are not. To do this manually was nearly impossible and no one on the team had time to maintain this, which meant potentially missing information.

Solution

DataBlend was able to create multiple workflows based off complex rules to ensure all opportunities were being recorded and recorded correctly. Revenue and cash from donations in Salesforce would be brought into Sage Intacct and the entries debit cash and credit the revenue account. Additionally, revenue and receivables were recorded in Sage Intacct from donations in Salesforce and the entry debits the pledge receivable and credits the revenue account, depending on Stage. Lastly, Grant codes were created within Sage Intacct when certain criteria were being met for an opportunity in Salesforce.

Outcome

All pledges and donations are being properly recorded and updated in both Salesforce and Sage Intacct, allowing the customer to focus on planning and budgeting, rather than on trying to ensure they were actually capturing all money coming into the organization.
